What Antidote For Blindness

What Antidote For Blindness

What antidote for blindness but
An over flowing loving heart
To stem the flood of hatred
Infecting every body part
Can we not see nor hear the love
We're gifted with our birth
Instead accepting scepter passed
From saturated haters girth.

Could we not know the right from wrong
Mounting violence as its cost
Humanity too swiftly buried
Suffering countless lives we've lost
Forbearance starves without restraint
With surging hatred at the gate
When all that's sought is love and peace
A want of long life's noble fate

Compassion is our birthrights gift
In lathered love of newborns cry
Wrapped in expectations bunting
To keep us warm and safe and dry
We cannot see what lies ahead
Benevolence our goal
With every breath that strengthens us
To be a loving soul

We grow as we are nourished
Fed love instead of hate
Awareness shaping destiny
Humanity our mate.
