Preface:
Life is not defined
By parenthood
Nor by spouses
Nor by who our parents are
Or where we live
Or how much we’ve earned
Or have not earned
But the value of self
Wherever we may be
Fooling Himself
Wrapped in his ego
He warmed his insecurity
Floated
In his
Impenetrable
False confidence
Fooling himself
Into believing
He owned his self-reliance
While warm tears flowed
Through his veins
Comforting his constant chills
Of self doubt
Not understanding he was
Worthy of being loved.
